Local Strategic Planning Statement

This statement outlines our land use vision and planning priorities to guide growth and shape our city into the future.

Our LSPS [8.85 MB | PDF] helps guide the growth of Albury over the next 20 years. Its focus is top-level land use directions with more detailed information or site specific strategies included in relevant sub-strategies or plans.

Our LSPS outlines our:

  • planning context
  • land use vision
  • planning priorities
  • actions

Our LSPS is as a unifying document, drawing together key land use directions from existing local and regional strategies.  It is also based on the aspirations, knowledge and values expressed by our residents who helped to create our City’s Vision and Community Values as part of our Community Strategic Plan (Albury2030) [6.02 MB | PDF], as well as other recent consultation activities to further understand our community’s priorities.

As a City we are well-placed to accommodate growth with an extensive supply of suitably zoned land and suite of existing planning strategies guiding development of key growth precincts (e.g. Thurgoona Wirlinga Precinct Structure Plan). As such, our LSPS does not propose any significant changes in our current land use strategy and directions. The planning priorities and actions of our LSPS outline the timing for review of existing strategies and identify some additional plans to address any ‘gaps’ and further strengthen our planning framework.

Our LSPS was prepared by Council to meet the requirements of section 3.9 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. It was publicly exhibited during June-July 2020 and endorsed by Council on 14 September 2020.
