Murray River Environment

Discover how the Murray River shapes life in Albury and how we're protecting its wetlands, waterways and riparian environments for future generations.

Understanding our river environment

The Murray River, its wetlands and connected waterways support thousands of native plants and animals while providing places for recreation, tourism and community life.

Healthy rivers depend on healthy riparian vegetation. River red gums, native grasses and wetlands help stabilise banks, improve water quality, reduce erosion and provide habitat for wildlife.

These environments are protected through restoration projects, weed control, habitat improvement and partnerships across the region.

Protecting a shared natural asset

OUR
ACKNOWLEDGMENT

AlburyCity acknowledges the Wiradjuri people as the traditional custodians of the land in which we live and work and we pay our respects to Elders past, present and future for they hold the memories, culture, tradition and hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that contribute to our community.
