About homelessness
Homelessness includes more than sleeping rough. It can include staying temporarily with other people, living in severely overcrowded housing or remaining somewhere unsafe because there is nowhere else to go.
AlburyCity works with local services and community organisations to connect people with support and improve responses to homelessness.

How AlburyCity responds
AlburyCity works with local service providers and NSW Government agencies to connect people experiencing or at risk of homelessness with accommodation, food, mental health and other support.
Our role includes:
- supporting local homelessness services and coordinated responses
- helping the community recognise homelessness and connect people with appropriate assistance
- advocating for improved funding and support services
- maintaining public spaces respectfully and safely.
Yes Unlimited is the lead Specialist Homelessness Service for the Albury region. Council works with Yes Unlimited and other local organisations to support coordinated referrals and assistance tailored to individual needs.
The Albury Homelessness Plan outlines Council’s approach to preventing and responding to homelessness.
AlburyCity works with homelessness services and NSW Government agencies to connect people with accommodation, food, mental health and other support.
Council does not have the legal authority to move someone from a public place simply because they are experiencing homelessness. People experiencing homelessness have the same right to access public areas as other community members.
Report criminal or antisocial behaviour to NSW Police. Council may clean public areas but does not intentionally destroy or dispose of personal or valuable belongings.
Council officers work with support providers and people sleeping rough to maintain public spaces and connect people with assistance.
- Emergency: Call Triple Zero (000)
- Non-urgent police assistance: Call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444
- Maintenance or cleaning concerns: Report an issue to AlburyCity
