New-look Yarrunga centre opens

By admin9bKp8, 8 May, 2026

The new-look centre includes bigger, brighter children’s rooms, new bathrooms, outdoor learning spaces and undercover access.

It replaces ageing and outdated facilities that were demolished to make way for the improvements.

The $870,000 makeover of the council-owned property in Woodstock Court was funded by AlburyCity, the Yarrunga community and the Federal Government, with council providing more than $600,000 of the total cost.

Children and staff have been using a temporary centre in David Street while construction took place.

AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack said council was delighted to have helped the centre enter a new era.

“Early learning is critical in the development of children’s lives so it’s fantastic to have worked with the government and the team at Yarrunga to develop these fantastic new facilities,” he said.

The new facilities cater to about 120 local families with children aged between six weeks and five years.
